Learning Life Lessons: Reflection on Day 3 & 4 of Life Class

The Life Class sessions on 26th and 27th September were enriching and memorable experiences. I had the opportunity to be a part of the 7 Habits and Love-Beta workshops, thoughtfully guided by Aman Sir and Arshi Ma’am. Their engaging style and practical insights helped us explore key habits such as Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand Then to Be Understood, and Synergize. Each habit carried meaningful lessons on communicating effectively, building stronger relationships, and developing the ability to think and act collaboratively.

The sessions were not only interactive but also reflective, encouraging us to apply these habits to our personal and academic lives. They highlighted the importance of maintaining balance, investing in meaningful connections, and approaching situations with positivity and openness.

On Day 2 , the second half of the day was dedicated to watching the inspiring movie Chak De! India. This was a joyful and energizing experience, filled with moments of learning about teamwork, perseverance, and the spirit of unity. Overall, these two days were filled with learning, inspiration, and joy, leaving us with valuable lessons that extend beyond the classroom.

From Win-Win to Chak De!

Attending my very first Life Class was an enriching and unforgettable experience. While many of my peers had already been part of earlier sessions, I joined at the stage where we explored Habits 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

The most memorable part of the Life Class was the group physical activity session. We played benchball, and our team worked together with energy, communication, and strategy and emerged as champions. Beyond winning, the activity truly showed the power of teamwork, trust, and collaboration, making the lessons of synergy and Win-Win thinking come alive in a fun and unforgettable way.

The experience didn’t just stay theoretical. We shared our personal life experiences, reflecting on how these habits already show up in our journeys and how consciously practicing them could shape our future. This openness was possible because of the safe, meaningful space created by our facilitators, Aman Sir and Arshi Ma’am, who guided us with warmth and clarity.

The perfect closing came with the movie Chak De! India. Watching it after learning about the habits made every principle resonate even more strongly the importance of trust, unity, perseverance, and shared vision. It was the ideal way to end the session, leaving a lasting impact.

For me, this first Life Class was much more than just a workshop. It was a turning point, an invitation to align my actions with deeper values, to practice balance, and to keep building habits that can truly make life more purposeful.

My Journey with the 7 Habits – Day 1 to 4

I recently had a fantastic professional development experience covering The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. The sessions were taken by Aman and Arshi, who started us off with great ice-breaking activities, helping all of us teachers connect and get to know each other.

On the first two days, we tackled the foundational habits. For Habit 1: Be Proactive, I remember being divided into groups to perform a nukkad natak. We were so happy to share what we understood from the prompt, and I really did experience how being proactive is helpful in life. Day two dealt with Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind, and we faced the truth about death. Our facilitators handled this concerning topic with ease, making us realize that because we don’t think about it every day, our time here should be used for the right cause.

A few weeks later, we came back for Day 3 and 4. We learned about the art of listening and its different types. Through sharing and playing activities, we saw how selective listening happens every day and how we can learn to actively listen instead.

Then came Habit 3: Put First Things First. This was demonstrated perfectly with a video of stones in a bottle, showing that if you put your most important life goals in first, the other things will fall into place around them.

Habit 6: Synergize on Day 4 was introduced with a planning game. This game helped us learn how to strategize as a team, think in terms of Win-Win and listening to others during strategising. We became one, kept our egos aside, and worked for a greater cause, which helped us actually win the finals! It was a great activity and I enjoyed it a lot. This was followed by making new connections with other teachers so we can all share and learn from each other.

The last habit, Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw, was about taking time to renew yourself to avoid burnout. It felt like a symbol for the two days we spent together, not just working, but playing and understanding. It all made so much more sense after we ended the session by watching Chak De! India. Reflecting on the movie after learning the habits was the perfect way to end our 4-day journey.

Life Classes – Day 2 & 3

These Life Classes taught me a lot about myself and helped me understand my strengths and habits better. It was a joy to meet new people and spend time with them. I really enjoyed playing sports together, which was fun and refreshing. Watching Chak De India after so long was nostalgic and exciting.

I also noticed how the lessons from the 7 Habits were reflected in the movie teamwork, leadership, and focusing on what we can control. Overall, the sessions were enjoyable, meaningful, and helped me learn about life, relationships, and myself.

Life Classes(Love class) – Day 7 & 8

The Life Classes on respect, love, and communication have provided us with invaluable insights into the core principles that sustain healthy and fulfilling relationships. We have learned that respect is the foundation upon which trust and mutual understanding are built, while love is a continuous action that nurtures and strengthens the bond between individuals. Moreover, communication stands as the bridge that connects hearts and minds, ensuring that both partners feel heard, valued, and supported.

These lessons have not only deepened our understanding of relationships but also empowered us to apply these principles in our own lives. By fostering respect, nurturing love, and practicing effective communication, we can create lasting and meaningful connections that thrive on mutual care and understanding.

Life Classes(Love class) – Day 5 & 6

The Love class has been a deeply emotional experience for me, especially when we explored the connection between love and pain. We often think of love as a beautiful, uplifting feeling, but there’s another side to it—one that involves vulnerability, sacrifice, and sometimes, emotional pain.

During the class, it became clear that love isn’t just about joy and affection. The hurt that comes when we care deeply for others, the heartache we sometimes endure, and the vulnerability that makes us truly connect. Understanding this aspect of love has helped me realize that pain isn’t something to avoid or fear. Instead, it is part of the process of growing deeper in love, both with ourselves and with others. The second day of the Love class stands out as one of the most heartwarming experiences I’ve had. Listening to everyone’s stories about their definitions of love was deeply moving. It was enlightening to hear how each person’s view of love was shaped by their own experiences, and these reflections expanded my understanding of the topic in unexpected ways. The openness and honesty with which everyone shared created a truly special, safe space for reflection and connection.

A heartfelt thank you to our facilitators for guiding us through these powerful realizations. Their openness and ability to create a space where we could explore both the beauty and the complexities of love was invaluable. Their passion made this journey through love and pain a truly enriching and eye-opening experience.

Day 3 – 4

Day 3 & 4 of Life classes were truly enjoyable. Day 4, spent out on the field, was filled with joy and energy as we embraced our competitive spirit in a fun way. The sports activities illustrated the value of trust, strategic planning, and the drive to think creatively—key elements for any team’s success. Our facilitator noted how teamwork not only reveals our strengths but also teaches us more about who we are. We learned how to synergize and leverage each person’s unique strengths, showing that collaboration elevates both individual and group potential. Overall, it reinforced collaboration as an essential ingredient for growth.

It was a transformative experience, blending visuals, activities, and real-life examples that effectively conveyed profound insights from Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” I learned to identify obstacles to my ideal life, shift my paradigm, and understand the power of choice in response to life’s challenges. This structured approach clarified my goals, helped me expand my circle of influence, and encouraged proactive language. The collaborative activities and movie Chak De! India reinforced synergy and teamwork. I am deeply grateful to Puja Aggarwal Ma’am and Muskan Mittal Ma’am for their guidance and support throughout this enriching journey.

7 Habits and Life – Alpha

The life class session that I recently attended on the 7 Habits opened my eyes to the power of personal effectiveness. The experience was truly enrgizing and left me feeling inspired and motivated. The facilitators were incredibly engaging and enthusiastic, making the material come alive through a variety of interactive activities, including role plays, games, and sports.

Key Takeaways:

  • Habit 4: Think Win-Win: Strive for mutually beneficial solutions in your relationships.
  • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Listen empathetically before expressing your own views.
  • Habit 6: Synergize: Work together to achieve more than you could individually.
  • Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw: Continuously invest in your personal and professional development. Working on all the dimensions – phsical, mental, spiritual and socio – emotional is necessary.

Life Classes – Day 3 & 4

The past two days of life classes were incredibly enjoyable. I’ll always cherish the joy and excitement we experienced on Day 4 while we were out in the field. It was a great way to tap into our competitive spirit while having fun. For any team to succeed, trust, strategic planning, and motivation to bring new solutions are essential.

One of our facilitators mentioned that working in teams helps us learn about our strengths and discover more about ourselves, and I wholeheartedly agree. It’s through our interactions with others that we gain deeper insights into our patterns and behaviours; we simply can’t function in isolation.

Revisiting the movie “Chak De! India” after such a long time also gave me many insights. It highlighted how the stories we tell ourselves about patriotism, nationalism, winning, and losing shape our behavior. The film emphasizes the importance of having a shared purpose to pursue a common goal, which can be quite challenging. As SRK’s character wisely states,

“Maine kaha tha na, team banane ke liye taakat nahi … niyat chahiye.”
I told you, to make a team you don’t need strength … you need intention.

Thank you for an amazing two days!

7 Habits Love and Life (Alfa)

7 Habits of Love and Life,” a profound and enlightening session wherein we delved into three pivotal habits: being proactive, beginning with the end in mind and put first things first.

Habit 1 : Be Proactive :

A. Respond, Don’t React: One of the most challenging yet rewarding aspects of being proactive is learning to respond thoughtfully rather than reacting on impulse. This involves pausing to consider the best course of action, which can lead to more positive outcomes in our decisions. B. Circle of Influence : Understanding and identifying our circle of influence is crucial. This means focusing on the things we can control and influence rather than wasting energy on external factors beyond our control. C. Change Your Paradigm: Adopting a proactive mindset requires a shift in paradigm. It’s about accepting that change is constant and necessary for growth.

Habit 2 : Begin with the end in mind

Be clear about your GOALS and start with achievable steps. Knowing exactly what we want to achieve allows us to create a roadmap to reach our destination. It’s important to start with actions that are within our control and manageable. These small victories build confidence as we progress towards our larger goals.

Habit 3: Put first things first : Identifying and scheduling the priorities, learning to say no and maintaining balance and being flexible is also important. Effective planning and prioritizing tasks that contribute significantly to our goals while avoiding unnecessary stress and overwork, is the key to steady progress and avoiding burnout.

The workshop provided deep insights into how all the habits are interwoven and essential for personal / professional growth and effective living. The journey towards self-improvement and success begins with small, deliberate steps and a clear vision of our goals.
