MY PARADIGM SHIFT

“ Coming together is beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is a success. ”

Henry Ford

Making a connection with the above quote, Life classes @FS has become the most awaited event for me. We began together, we progressed together and now, we together, are at the successful completion of 7 habits life classes.

Mayur Sir and Khusboo Ma’am were our facilitators and they made these sessions as one of the valuable and cherishable time at school.

Starting with the 7 Habits classes, as a part of Gamma, I had a lot of learning and takeaways. The session began by discussing and taking charge of our actions followed by beginning our plans with the end in the mind.

There was a part with the name DEATH BED activity, I cannot forget that session as it shook me and made me realize that future is unseen, it is unpredictable and we should plan it well, think of all our wishes and dreams we want to achieve and place it in the 4 quadrants.

Life changed from that very moment, my plannings changed, my behavior changed and all these changes were positive. From watching relevant videos to small readings, going out, sharing our problems, seeking solutions, interacting with people from different fields, these all helped us value different perspectives and appreciate each individual. There were times when we actually shared, what we never wanted to, or open up in front of the strangers, maybe with this thought – that who they are and how it will matter to them, but life classes help you to truly absorb its essence.

The book The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People talks about moving from dependence to independence and then to interdependence. The same can be explained through this image.

I did apply a lot of learning from these life classes. My husband is a Stephen Covey preacher and he too kept on talking about all these real-life facts and ways to make life happy, focusing on the circle of concern rather than influence, It has to be a proactive approach and not a reactive one and so on. I honestly ignored all this advice. Life classes, however, had an optimistic approach towards the same, the way we talk with multiple people and share our opinion helped us overcome a lot of problems. That is why I could connect that personal victory has to be achieved in order to attain public victory. As we deal with students, parents and other team members, it is important to understand that we first have to build our roots strong, followed by choosing right route to walk along and that is how we get fruit. It is a fact that recalling any of the habits in a situation where a quick decision has to be made, becomes difficult, but practice makes a man perfect. Unless we apply our learning consciously, it is difficult to achieve the gist of gained understanding. I remember giving a letter to our facilitators, it was written by me and I further added the consent of all participants in the footnote, this was a natural flow of feelings which came from a discussion of EBA ( Come on Mayur Sir, now do not take it as a joke and think that I wanted to make some deposits ….:))). I had a discussion post this session with my son, he too is reading 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teenagers. He shared how we have made deposits and withdrawals from this emotional account. After having a lot of discussions I realized that maybe I am the only one who is not reading this book or rather not applying these learnings as they are effective.

My AHA moment of this life class was the DEATHBED activity as it surely brought a change in my life. I enjoyed playing games, acting, presenting, going to the beach with the team and many more reflection activities. Every session was well planned. The facilitators made sharing so easy that soon we felt as if we all belong to a common group and it is okay to share our feelings there. From giving suggestions to seeking solutions, it was all under one roof. I believe that learning never stops, we learn new skills every moment and from anyone; it is all about application.

Since the learning for me is a good asset and a lot to share, still, If I have to summarise the book and my learning into a quote, then I would choose to say – “ I used to take all outside – in, but I will now bring my all inside – out.”

Thank you, FS for conducting the life classes and choosing inspiring facilitators.

Life Classes

“Life classes”…. I always wondered about this classes when I first heard the name. But to my surprise it turned out to be very positive in my life.

The book 7 Habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey is very interesting and motivating book itself but, when you do it practically it is totally a different experience. And to me it was a life changing experience with the amazing facilitator. It was based on life’s personal experiences but different perspectives towards it.

What I really learnt from this classes is, it is our life and we have to try making it positive. We have to design and mold our life which makes us happy so that we can spread happiness around.

To conclude with I would like to say that, “Take care of yourself and people around you”.

Life Class

My journey in “Life Class” was full of learnings. I am thankful to Fountainhead school and my facilitators to helped me assimilate the 7 habits of highly effective people. We know that the negative habits are hard to give up and the good habits are hard to catch up, but the learning-friendly atmosphere of life class helped me to imbibe the 7 habits. This also helped me to discover myself. I tried to apply many of the habits in my routine. The learning has positively affected my personal as well as professional life. My work is way easier now because of habits like Be Proactive, Begin with End in Mind and Put First Things First. I exactly know when to do what because of these habits. Habits like Think Win – Win and Seek First to Understand, Then To Be Understood have helped me to collaborate and jell up well while working with colleagues. I enjoyed my life classes thoroughly and will cherish the learning throughout life.

Lajja_Shah_Life Class_7 habits_2018-19

I am very thankful to school for conducting this kind of Classes from which we can do journey of our own life consciously. I can say that from this journey I learn 7 habits in a way of personal and professional life. Applying these habits will help me in various aspects of life.

The journey of These life class was very interesting and I can say creative also. The facilitators are very creative to designed this life class sessions very practical and interactive. Facilitators used such kind of examples which is already there in contemporary life so that we can easily connect it with our life’s journey.

During this life class I tried to change some things which is there in my life and from that I can make myself more mature and strong. I am trying to work upon some of my paradigms and make myself more positive. I knew that I am sensitive and I am a person who stuck too much with some things and hurt myself most because of that. But I didn’t find that how should I workout to resolve this. From these sessions of 7 habits, now I am working upon it and trying to resolve this things with the more positive energy. And yes, definitely I can say that I learnt “Let it be” from some sessions. And that “ Let it be” helps me a lot to workout with some situations.

Overall, this life class helps me to know about what is important, what I should do first etc.. in my personal and professional life. This life class helps me to move in my life from dependence to independence, to focus on teamwork (which is there in professional as well as personal life), better Communication, better routines etc..

I am now waiting for the next life classes with the creative facilitators which can introduce me to new things in my life with the new experience.

Thank you.

Life class

In life, We all are know what is good or bad for yourself. It sounds good to hear these 7 habit during life class session but it is not easy to follow in real life. No one become effective and successful person by reading 2-3 books. In life class session, I carefully listen to the facilitators but I don’t like to share personal thing and problem. I am speak only when facilitators ask me.

Because of this life classes I started work on below habit : –

  • Prioritize my task
  • Walk everyday 45 minute

Thank you mayur sir and khushboo ma’am for guidance and support for life class session.

Life A Mathematical Sum

life is like a mathematical sum. the action we take in every different situation in every movement is the values of that sum and our future is our answer. when we change our values( action ) the answer( future ) will change itself. when I again did the 7 habits I feel it definitely affect my action the way I take.
in the end
When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.

VISHNU BHAGAT

My journey. My evolution. My shift.

It is rightly said that, “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” Rewinding my memories back to the first session of my life class, I was wondering that what is so different about Stephen Covey’s book which was never told or said in other self-help books and why is it important to learn things out of it in the very first year before Love and Integrity class but as the journey unfolded I realised before learning anything else it is very important to unlearn all the unnecessary paradigms and observe and re-frame them perhaps to lead a better and successful life.

The paramount of understanding occurred when the sharing amongst the peers happened. I had never savoured an opportunity before in my life wherein at the same time I was able to understand the concepts through uncountable perspectives. Application of the habits is not easy though but was equally fundamental to transform, hence, a decision to try was utmost important then.

Finally, yet importantly, I would like to thank all the people in the school (leaders, facilitators, staff, peers) who have played a crucial role in my learning and/or organising this life class for me. It has definitely deepened my knowledge and the way now I look at things now!

Life Class 2017-18

Attending life classes was very much worthy, I greatly appreciate Fountainhead for providing me this opportunity. I feel it was very important to have a good insight on all the seven habits. This has broadened my understanding on the values for life to a greater extent. Applying these habits will help me become more successful in various aspects of life. It will also help me develop my personal as well as professional life.

The sessions were beautifully designed with a blend of discussion and activities were well organised and enhanced the understanding of the habits well. The real beauty of the seven Habits is that improvement in one habit compliments the others equably. It basically goes hand in hand.

Endearing dear zindagi!

“Life class”… The most righteous name given to a class that changes your stance towards life. We all know how precious the life is but we often do not realize it till we are made to realize… Most of us merely survive and not live. Life classes helped me in living my life as it came and not just surviving it. By the end of just 8 enlightening days, it changed the way I see life now. I always loved this quote by Helen Keller — ‘I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet’ but never could feel the profound meaning it carried. When at life classes my colleagues opened their life’s books for us all to glance, I was suddenly hit by a reality check that yes I have enough things to be thankful about.

Life classes also helped me to set my priorities and helped me organize my already settled life (at least I thought it was ;P until this happened). Reading would have helped but experiencing the lessons in real life by sharing with others made a difference. I would like to take opportunity to show my gratitude to FS for conducting something so fruitful and to Ravi Sir and Shraddha Ma’am for their consistent guidance and nurturing (read:facilitating) our life classes with their sincere efforts. To conclude, it helped me to endear my dear zindagi!

Best wishes,

Rashida Golwala
