The web of Beliefs i.e. ” Biases”

“ We are what we believe we are.” – Lewis Carroll. It holds true for what the world also i.e. what we believe it to be.

This is the poem I could resonate with Confirmation Bias -:

Read it with sorrow and you will feel hate.

Read it with anger and you will feel vengeful.

Read it with paranoia and you will feel confusion.

Read it with empathy and you will feel compassion.

Read it with love and you will feel flattery.

Read it with hope and you will feel positive.

Read it with humor and you will feel joy.

Read it without bias and you will feel peace.

Do not read it at all and you will not feel a thing.

Confirmation Biases does cloud my judgments.

  • I like the way the poem is written. All the lines of the poem are interesting and one could personal connection to it.

  • The poetry is so powerful! And it actually works like that in real life. The situation will appear to you the way you look at it. Its us who decides, how do we deal with it…..wearing a specific emotional lens.

The last line of the poem is very heartfelt- “Do not read it at all and you will not feel a thing”. : ) if you do not know about a particular thing, you will not question/think.

Our emotions should not overpower our thinking.

  • well expressed poem and one could make connections easily.

This poem makes me connect to “story bias”

How the way we listen or read influences the way we perceive it.
