Art and Skills—–Support Staff

Very rightly said…….It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge—–Albert Einstein.

This year was full of challenges and excitement for us (SurbhiTalwar-Sita Suwalka). We took the the utmost responsibility of taking art and craft classes for the support staff. Initially, we were enthusiastic and bothered how to go about it and finally, we started our first session with introduction and diary making activity in which they gave the reflection of each session.

Our goal was to make them do Best out of waste. Which included bangle making, it was reformed from old bangle. They were very happy when they saw this modification. We took the feedback and decided for the next session. Though Diwali was approaching we decided to make Toran, which was really appreciable. To make best out of waste we also opted making a handbag from old jeans and flower vase from the newspaper.

We thought of making some change so we included cooking activities like Pizza and Nan khatai.

“In learning, you will teach, and in teaching, you will learn.”

This quote was really applicable to us throughout the year.

Love Class

Learning is lifelong process

Learning is lifelong process:

Learning never ends, life may. I am happy that my school gave me an opportunity to improve and understand by training. Last year, it was a chance to facilitate the support staff. It was a workshop on ‘7 Habits for Success’. When the new sessions started this year, I was excited for new learning. The beautiful topic was ‘Love Workshop’. Priti Pimpalkhare and I are facilitators for 2 of the support staff groups year workshops.

On the first day of workshop, we were asked about the experience of last year. It was really good feeling that the support staff was sharing the experience with open heart and telling that their lives have really improved after the workshop.  Most of the female members shared that earlier they were reactive. They used to shout and even hit the children. The training has helped us to handle the situation.

Then came the interesting part of ‘big pain area’. After a good amount of sharing they were supposed to write.

On the second day, it was time to learn about the problems and pain and discipline. We were asked what discipline is and why it is so important. The sub topics of discipline – ‘Delaying of gratification and the sins of the father’ followed. We shared some examples of delaying of gratification and how that helps in our life. All have agreed and promised that they will apply in day-to-day life and will share their experience in next class.

I also had a chance to introspect and share my experience where and how I improved in my personal and professional life. It has proved to be a very important training for me. I am longing for still better sessions in times to come!

“Another mile stone”

“In learning you will teach and in teaching you will learn”

Well said quote by Phil Collins which I fully agree

When  I got this opportunity to share my learning with others, I was very excited. But  it was a challenging task to prepare for the class. I worked hard and had to be on my toes all the time as I was responsible in the transformation of so many lives. Being a mentor, helped me to boost my confidence. It gives immense pleasure to see the participants sharing their reflection and imbibing the learning in their life. Practicing 7 habits has helped me personally in my life to become a responsible and an empathetic listener and am sure it will help others to live a better life. It would be an achievement for me as a facilitator if I could help the participant in the smallest way to enlighten their life.

It was not easy for the support staff to share their struggling life with the other participants but slowly seeing the facilitators and other participants sharing, they were able to trust in us to share their areas of concerns. It was a very different experience preparing and facilitating the  support staff for the 7 habits.

I would like to use  this forum to thank my facilitator and co facilitators to upgrade me well enough to take up this challenging task of transforming people’s lives.

Regards,

Parvin

All about teaching and learning!!

It feels so good to share how well our support staff accept things implement and try to change their life. We as facilitators observed that all the participants willingly participate and understand the importance behind this classes.

We got amazing reflections from them where they shared that they have started applying habits in their day to day life especially put first thing first. They also shared that they have started giving time to their family. During discussion of Delayed gratification, few of them confessed that they tend to do their desired work before their responsibility and showed willingness to apply delay gratification in their life.

We look forward for next teaching and learning class!!!

” Change is constant..!”

Greetings.

We would like to share a reflection about our life classes at FS for the support staff. The FS support staff has really taken to the understanding and learning’s of this exciting class. They have demonstrated a way of living their lives (not a drastic change as such..!) but one worth mentioning here.

For instance a few of the participants have instilled a time management skill amongst their families and have become more valuable to them than before. Some of them have shared their importance of their spouses and children’s in their life. They have confessed to us the changes they have experienced till date and most of them are living a new discipline in their day to day lives. In fact, they have become even better now that they have acknowledged their weaknesses and harnessed their strengths. In the past they were impatient with authority and change, but now they are more receptive to change and are handling it all very well, as told by them.

We are very proud to facilitate this classes teaching and are looking forward to the next classes! As are they – in fact they always ask us, ”when is the next class?”
