The Life Class was much more than a learning session for me—it became a journey of looking inward and understanding myself better.
On Day 1, the Mood Meter helped me realise that emotions are never simply “good” or “bad”; they keep changing, and children experience the same feelings too. Creating my emotional timeline made me look back at my own journey and recognise how I found my way back whenever I reached a low point. Understanding my triggers, acknowledging my feelings, and reflecting on myself helped me pause and listen to my emotions.
The most special part was writing a letter to my first-year self. Looking at where I started and where I am today made me realise that I never imagined I would grow from a teacher into a team leader. It filled me with gratitude for my journey and for everything this organisation has taught me, both personally and professionally.
Day 2 took me back to my childhood—my traits, dreams, and ambitions. The message from my younger self was simple: “Slow down.” The trait auction then made me reflect on my strengths as a teacher and leader and reminded me that even our strengths should not overpower us.
These two days taught me something beyond teaching and leadership: sometimes, to understand others better, we first need to understand ourselves.
