Day 1 & 2 of Life Classes: A Chance to Pause and Reflect (Epsilon)
The first two days of Life Classes gave me something that we don’t always get in our busy routines — a chance to stop and think about ourselves.
One of the things that stood out to me was learning about the difference between what is in our control and what is not. We often cannot control what happens around us, but we can control how we respond to it. This made me think about how often I react to situations without really stopping to think about my response.
The sessions encouraged me to think about my values, priorities, goals, and the kind of person I want to become. I found myself asking questions like: What is really important to me? Am I making choices that are helping me become the person I want to be?
The activities and discussions made these ideas easier to connect with my own life. We talked about situations that can happen in our academic, personal, and professional lives, and I realised that our everyday choices can have a much bigger impact on our future than we sometimes realise.
I particularly liked the idea of moving from simply reacting to consciously choosing how to respond. It reminded me that even when I cannot change a situation, I can still decide what I do next.
The sessions were also interactive, which made them more interesting. Listening to different perspectives and sharing our own thoughts helped me look at some familiar situations in a different way.
My biggest takeaway from these two days is that self-awareness is the starting point for personal growth. Being responsible for our choices and having a clear sense of purpose can help us make better decisions.
Life Classes was not just about learning a few concepts. It gave me an opportunity to reflect on where I am today, where I want to go, and the choices I can make along the way.
Sometimes, the most important step forward is simply taking a moment to pause, reflect, and choose our direction.
