I can bring about change and hence I need to work upon the capacities I am endowed with. Capacity to desire. Capacity to act and Capacity to know.

This reminds me of the first line from Scoot Peck book “Life is difficult.”

I have to work so as to bring change in me. Another question quips in my mind -: How is this change going to happen or occur to me?

An important learning I assimilated from the first session -:

a.) The sense of accomplishment.

b.) Having ambitions and desires signals that I am a healthy person.

When I do the reality check, I am happy only when my desires get fulfilled.Hence, the sense of success is lacking and there is an endless list of the unfulfilled desires.

In the second session, I got the answer to my question from Guruji. The analysis of this sholka was an eye-opener for me as I got to know the true meaning of this shloka -:

“कर्मणये वाधिकारस्ते मां फलेषु कदाचन । मां कर्मफलहेतुर्भू: मांते संङगोस्त्वकर्मणि” ।।

(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 47)

Source -: http://www.gitablog.com/2014/08/karmanye-vaadhika-rate-maa-phaleshu.html

You do not have a say in the actions of results anytime Results are taken care off. Krishna says “Do not attach the results to your actions.”

Having understood this, the definition of success got redefined in these sessions. Success is the ability to how I respond or take the results when it comes. My happiness or harmony in me does not get disturbed when the outcome or result is either favorable or unfavorable.

The most important learning or the assimilation of thoughts is -:

a.) enjoy the whole process

b.) Learn from the experiences

c.) focus on learning

d.) Do not get attached to the inactions.

In this struggle of attaining success, panic occurs. Acknowledging my limitations, having acceptance in me and desire to act will ward off unwanted burden that I carry with me.

Another important learning is about the process of living life intelligently.

The law of karma ” I am responsible for actions and results are taken care off. Focus on actions.”

Going further with the assimilation of the thoughts during the sessions, Raga and Devyesha – the two terms which mean what I want to have and What I do not want to have. This led to an understanding of the desires which each one has and the ultimate goal of this life rests on them.

Coming to Artha Kama, the ultimate goal of my life should not be time-bound. Acknowledging that I have a problem and commitment to follow Dharma will ensure growth.

To summarize the essence of my learnings from the sessions so far -:

In a nutshell, Bhagwad Gita talks about self-growth, self-esteem, self-discovery, and self-worth. In the pressure of Raga and Devysha, follow Dharma ( to be done).

” We are endowed with the ability of free will.” This statement has struck me the most from the first session of the Gita Class to this day.A good question -: How I look upon myself? I am still pondering … We are not fantastic animals.
